PhD and Postdoc Alumni Network

Starting up an alumni network begins with creating a network between the current enrolled students. That is why the main intention with this event is for you to expand your network, now and in the future. We will facilitate the process and make sure that you get the best out of it. To make it easy for you, you do not have to prepare anything, but please sign up no later than the 28th of August, 2020. The theme for this network meeting is: Industrial symbiosis – sustainable production with speaker Lisbeth Randers. Lisbeth Randers is Head of Secretariat in Kalundborg Symbiosis. She holds a Master´s degree in communication and management and has many years’ experience in working in cross sectorial fields, connecting public and private companies. Lisbeth has been working for the Symbiosis since 2012.

Industrial symbiosis – sustainable production

Welcome to the fourth PhD and Postdoc Alumni Network meeting for Novo Nordisk fellows and PhD students and Postdocs at the Novo Nordisk Foundation Research Centers

Abstract

The more industry you have in the area, the more sustainable you can make the production!
That sounds like a contradiction, but nevertheless it is what happens in Kalundborg, where big, energy demanding production sites work together with each other in order to have a more efficient and environmentally friendly use of local resources. Residue is no longer waste for one partner, but resource for another. The public partners, like the municipality and the utility, play an important role in the unique partnership, creating growth not only for the companies, but also for the community in Kalundborg, supporting for instance local educations.
I will introduce you to the world´s best example of industrial symbiosis, operating since 1972 – and what we do to reach our ambitious goal of circular economy.

This networking event is open to all old and current PhD students and Postdocs at the Novo Nordisk Foundation Research Centers (CfB, CPR, Danstem and CBMR) and Novo Nordisk PhD and Postdoc fellows or alumni. It is completely free of charge, but registration is mandatory. Please share this event with your relevant colleagues.
