The ambition of the Novo Nordisk Foundation Science Cluster Conferences is to host the world’s best scientific conferences for the world's top researchers and innovators within strategic scientific focus areas.
We hope that you will join us for a thought-provoking conference in exclusive intimate settings, connecting with other interesting people around solving interdisciplinary scientific challenges.
Join the world-renowned conference in Copenhagen
The Novo Nordisk Foundation Science Cluster Conferences are a series of scientific conferences within biomedicine and biotechnology. They bring together some of the world’s top researchers and young talent to discuss the latest scientific results and hottest topics within a particular field. The purpose of the conferences is to enable participants to build an international network and relationships, and to exchange knowledge and ideas. To promote a relaxed, trusting and open atmosphere, each conference limits the number of participants, including the speakers, to 150–170. The conferences are held in exclusive surroundings less than 1 hour north of Copenhagen International Airport. The high-quality social arrangements and excursions are designed to help the participants establish new contacts and make the conference a memorable experience.
Who can attend?
The primary criteria for attendance are scientific accomplishments and the commitment to participate actively and meaningfully in the discussions and activities at the conference. An important goal of the conferences is to bring senior scientists and upcoming young talent together in order to spark inspiration. In accordance with this, researchers of all levels are encouraged to apply – from PhDs and Postdocs to Senior Researchers and Professors.
Secondly, the aim is to create a relaxed atmosphere of free and open discussion and debate across scientific boundaries. Participants are expected to contribute to this goal by active participation. Furthermore, all participants are expected to stay for the entire duration of the conference. This is important in order to create the opportunities and the time necessary for the participants to build trust and strong relations.
Invitation of speakers is handled by the organizing committee, who is completely responsible for the scientific programme and for inviting contributors at the highest international level.
All participants are expected to stay for the entire duration of the conference.
Apply to participate
Before opening the online application form please prepare the following:
- An abstract
- A description of relevant activities
- Written motivation *
- Recommendation letter from your supervisor*
* for travel grant applications only.
Everyone who applies must submit an abstract of max 1700 characters as part of the application form.
Indicate your particular activities, which justify favorable consideration of you as a participant and contributor to the conference. This information is important, as it allows the Evaluation Committee to make an informed decision when reviewing and accepting applications. This should be max 1700 characters.
Travel grants may be awarded to applicants from under-resourced scientific environments. This means that the evaluation committee will consider the travel grant a prerequisite for participation. There are no geographical requirements or limitations associated with our grants. Recipients are selected based on their abstract as well as a written motivation along with a letter from his/her supervisor or head of department.
The conference programme will always include poster sessions and all participants are expected to bring one poster each. During the poster sessions a committee set by the organisers will judge the posters and presentations for the poster competitions. The winner will be announced on the last day. We encourage all to bring inspiring and exciting posters about their current research.
The format of the posters should be maximum A0 in size and be vertical orientated.
To encourage open communication and presentations of unpublished data, each participant at a Novo Nordisk Foundation Science Cluster Conference agrees that any information presented at the conference, whether in a formal talk, poster session, or discussion, is a private communication from the individual making the contribution and is presented with the restriction that such information is not for public use. Prior to quoting or publishing any such information presented or discussed at a conference in any publication, written or electronic, written approval of the contributing member must first be obtained. This also applies to social networks, blogs or tweets. The audio or video recording of lectures by any means, the photography of slide or poster material, and printed or electronic quotes from papers, presentations and discussion at a conference without written consent of the contributor is prohibited.
Each participant at a conference acknowledges and agrees to these restrictions when registration is accepted and as a condition of being permitted to attend a conference. Each contributor at a conference assumes sole responsibility for the protection and preservation of any intellectual property rights in their own contributions to a conference.
